Winnie

English and Welsh, pet form of Winifred (from Welsh Gwenfrewi, where gwen means 'white, blessed'), or of Edwina or Winston

Winnie-the-Pooh was named after Winnipeg, a Canadian black bear at London Zoo that soldier Harry Colebourn bought as a cub in 1914.
